Apple Blossom Parade

Spent 4 1/2 hours round-trip to photograph the Sebastopol Apple Blossom Parade & Festival. The parade & crowd was lackadaisical and they were charging 10 dollars admission for the “festival”.

I declined, and returned to Petaluma, to find that I should have stayed for the day. The crowd here was MUCH more enthusiastic, even 2 to 3 hour AFTER the parade…

  1. I have 300 photographs I still need to resize & white balance. (sorry to say, I still find white balancing in Photoshop to be much easier & accurate than to try to do it all in-camera while trying to catch shots)

  2. What does lackadaisical mean? The parade started where you lived and went on to Sebastopol? Is that the town’s name?

  3. Two different towns in Sonoma County had their annual festivals the same day. I’m more of a Sebastopol-type individual, but the crowd there knew everyone else (and I didn’t), and the atmosphere was more like laundry day than anything else. Petaluma was much more lively– even hours AFTER the parade. I was told by a Petaluma local, that HE was told by a Sebastopol festival organiser, that they decided to hold the parade on the same day so “those rowdy kids from Petaluma” wouldn’t show up. They didn’t. The Sebastopol crowd was tame as milk (although for some reason, there were cops all up & down the street there). For a definition of “lackadaisical”, just cut’n’paste the word into the Google search bar in your browser. It will give you your choice of dictionaries.
