Karen, I’m glad you’re having good results with Vista.My question is this:How did you get it to stop sucking?(for oh so many reasons…)I spent the first few hours of my time with my new computer editing out literally gigabytes of crapware (which really bytes– it’s like weeding out the advertising sections of the Sunday paper that you don’t want, and for which they charge an extra buck).The problem is that the computer is still doing what IT wants, whenever it feels like doing it, and I’m trying to strip out any superfluous crap I don’t want or need, without crashing the computer entirely.Any tips would be greeaatly appreciated.

5. Now now, it’s not good to hold those negative feelings inside. C’mon, out with it: tell us how you really feel. :)Overall, Vista’s been working out well for me, but I bought an OEM copy and installed it myself, which I gather makes a difference. PC vendors tend to load up new PCs with bunches of trialware and junk; is that the sort of thing you’re having trouble with?

7. tpowhat lingo is that?i’ve not had to move over to the vista and i’m not sure i want too either, even if they tell me xp is out of date.hell, i used win98 up until my computer hardware not software carshed in 2007!i also used dos 2.0 up until about 1992 . . . does anyone remember when basic language was popular?

10. Never this again? Go for MAC! After 20 years weasting my time with Microsoft products, I decided to give a try to MAC and MAC OS X (keeping the chance to run my Microsoft’s only softwares in a Windows with Parallel).It took me only 2 weeks to great with MAC OS X! Since then (2 years), I love computers again 🙂 Mac Experience is something MUCH MUCH better than Microsoft Experience! Beleive Me and thing about this next time you have to buy a computer… Good luck. 11. I know Microsoft get slagged off and I do admit to using the likes of Open Office and Firefox in addition to Opera but I have used XP for years and it has been a solid stable operating system and I have no problems with it.But Gates cannot leave a good thing alone and so we get sodding Vista

12. The MS theory seems to be “When you’ve got it pretty much right, launch a replacement”. My sister still has W95FE running on one of her machines, she’s managed to get it to do all manner of stuff that it’s not supposed to do, and what a speed it works at these days! Oddly enough she likes Vista.Me, I loaded up Linux after a hardware upgrade crashed W98 and in short order I had to upgrade to W98SE then WinME before being told I would have to upgrade again to XP… I’m now so hooked on running the software that MS won’t be running until their next OS upgrade that even my mum’s Mac seems a little old hat now.

13. i’m staying away from vista after all the negative comments i’ve heard. not just here, but all over the place. i have been puzzled and curious, but i’m not going to mess with it. :cool:my xp is doing just fine. as a matter of fact my hp presario is running just plain sweet. and with a 500 gb external, finally, i have no worries. :happy:

14. I bought a 500 gig external, then afterwards I worked out that all the drives I’ve had over the years now amount to over a terra.Probably no worries for months yet then.
